Rid your home of toxic products in two easy steps

2-steps-to-non-toxic-home-items

By now we all know that our cleaning and beauty products are trying to kill us right? Okay, that might be a bit over the top BUT I still just don't understand why the powers that be allow all the harsh chemicals in our stuff.

60% of what we put on our skin and hair is absorbed!

But there is a solution...

1. Actually read what is in your shampoo, toothpaste, and other beauty products that you use daily. Don't forgot to check the cleaning product labels also.

Are you finding ingredients that you can't pronounce and don't know what they are?

You can either type the suspect ingredients into google OR you can go to the Skin Deep Cosmetic Database where the fine people over at the Environmental Working Group have done some of the work for you. {Be sure to read how they calculate their ratings so you can decide accurately what might work for your family.} This data base doesn't include cleaning supplies but you can probably guess that most on the shelves of your local market are not really 'clean' products - unless the label says so AND you check out the ingredients!

2. Replace what you have that is potentially toxic, with great products. This is easier than it sounds. I know, I hear you saying that non-harsh chemical products are more expensive than their 'clean' counterparts. And sometimes that is true because harsh chemical ingredients and fillers are cheap. They are usually by-products of something else that the manufacturer didn't know what to do with until they had a light bulb moment and stuck it in your shampoo because they knew it would make it foam up. blech. no.
Go for the good stuff. You usually need to use less of a 'clean' product than you would a harsh one, and many are concentrated - and that saves you money in the long run. Just be sure to follow the directions for diluting to get the biggest bang for your buck.

2a. I'm replacing my products with DoTERRA products - they are fabulous and I plug them into an auto ship program where I get a % back on my order to use later. Win win. I even get a shipping credit.
This saves me more money than couponing.
I'm also not stuck to the same order monthly, so it's like a subscription box - I can change it up each month whenever I want. It's awesome. If you are interested in finding out more about this program, the beauty and cleaning supplies, or supplements that DoTERRA offers just hit me up.  {I'm not pushy I promise. Far from it actually.}

Updating this post to include a recommendation for the book:: The Essential Oil Truth without all the Hype. {affiliate link} You can also find this book for Kindle, and if you qualify for a free 30 day KindleUnlimited trial... you can grab it for free {at the time of this writing, subject to change}. This book gives you lots of info on how Essential Oils work, why they work, without exploding your brain with all the big science words. Perfect for me!

To summarize: Find your products that are not serving you for whatever reason, and replace them with items that do serve you, your family, and your wellness path.
*** Actually, that can be said for anything in your life! ***
